Subject: Leaking Antifreeze??
IP: Logged

Message:
My 1999 Dodge Dakota 4x4 is leaking antifreeze and it is coming from the front of the radiator. All hoses were checked and ok. It looks like its draining from the reserve. I don't drive it now because I drove it approx. 5 miles and all the antifreeze was gone. Also when I took it to a mechanic and had bigger tires put on he said that my ball joints need to be changed and the job will cost me approx. $900.00, is he correct? It was bad on one side only.

i think this guy is out to really soak you one.
about your leak, just an idea because my 99 had the gasket go bad right on top of the engine where you would take the hose off to replace your thermostat, leaked like crazy, fixed it and then well of course no more leak. but this might not be your problem, your reserve tank could be cracked or someting.
900 is way too much to replace all 4 ball joints
if i get time i will look up my ticket and repost how much it cost me for all 4.....

$900 for one side balljoints is high..$900 to do all 4 is probably not bad. I mean they rip you off anyway. Its not hard to do yourself and the parts themselves are less than $150 a side.
