Always had Rams w/ auto trans or Dak w/manual ,,Am considering purchasing used 01 4.7 auto QC , any idea how long the auto lasts B4 overhaul and how costly is it ???? the one I'm lookin' @ has 126,000 mi. on it ! Thanx !!!!!

The 45 RFE on the Dakota your considering is the best auto Dodge has made since maybe the 727. Very few issues reported on related forums. Large fluid capacity(14 quart)with two filters. If you buy it get 20 quarts of Mopar ATF +4 or Amsoil or Redline and have the trans flushed at a place with a machine. They will need 17 quarts to completely flush the trans, use whats left to flush out power steering(its due anyway).
My guess is 200-250k without a major overhaul. $1400-$2000 for major repair(another guess).
