I was looking at the jba headers and then i saw gibson headers that were nickel plated for 339.00 which is about a hundred bucks less than the jba stainless.....which is better for the price? Any ideas on Nickel vs. stainless?

the nickle will probably rust faster than the stainless.

speedtweaks was (still might be) offering the ciramic coated jba's for $480 shipped. i have them, and they are BEAUTIFULL!! never rust, or change colors, and they keep your enging compartment cooler. you cant beat that with a stick!

Get the ceramic coated headers!! It's well worth the extra money. Nickel turns colors and will corrode if you don't keep them clean and polished. Only the tubes are stainless steel on the stainless steel headers, the flanges are not. You will have pretty stainless steel tubes headers with rusting flanges. I found that out the hard way. I am sending mine to Jet-Hot to get mine ceramic coated. The ceramic coating doesn't rust or change colors. It resists heat and if you keep them clean, they will retain their finish for many years. Lots of people swear by them.

I have ceramic coated headers in my truck. Not only does it look awesome, but it is unbelevibly cooler under the hood! I would never get anything else. If you got the extra money get the coating, if you don't wait!

Yeah, that sounds cool and all, but how visible are the headers when looking in the engine bay. I don't think you can see the stock exhaust manifolds. Just doesn't seem worth it for something not highly visible. Also, can't you buy heat resistant paint and just keep in good shape that way. Like the paint made for engine blocks and temperatures up to 750 or whatever? 25% is a lot more to pay.

I asked the same question to a guy that sells the Mopar headers in Florida.

"the heat issue has floated around forever. truth is, exhaust is hot and its always going to have heat. paints, coatings, wraps won't get rid of it . I'm in florida so heat is always a problem here. no way around it. Coatings are to make the headers look new all the time. some of the chrome can discolor and get some blue tones in it, thats the only difference. If you do car shows or just want a new look all the time go with coatings. If it doesn't matter do the chrome. mine has been on for 3 yrs and not a problem on my 98 r/t."

We painted the headers on my friends car and it came off in 3 months. The paint was suppost to be good up to 1200 degrees, but it does not matter. Trust me when you put the headers in they become alot more visible than the exhaust manifolds. The manifold hug the engine more than the headers.

yea the headers are verry visable, and IMHO the stock manifolds look better than rusted headers. the coating also keeps the engine cooler, which can result in more hp.
