Shocks will not give you any lift. If you get Ranchos, spend the extra and get the 9000 adjustables, I found that the RS5000 are a rough ride. I personally run Skyjacker Nitros on my 01 Dak (4.7) I find them very smooth.

I had the 5000's and the 9000's on the Jeep I had. The 5000's are a little rough and the 9000's are nice because you can adjust the ride. The only problem was, after alittle time went by the air would leak out and it is hard to stop the leak. I now have the RSX's on my 4+4 Dakota and I love them. Summit racing has them and I bought them on sale when they had buy 3 get 1 free. The total was about $180.

I think the 9000's are a better shock than the 5000's, but they cost twice as much, and have a much greater chance of something going wrong - as 1234 said. I've had the 5000's on my truck for about the last 40K miles or so. A vast improvement over stock. Yes, they are a little rough on broken pavement, but it also handles broken/irregular pavement very well. Still seem as good as new after all these miles.

I saw them on sale this week end somewhere - Checker? AZ? - for $39.95 each.

Look at the Monroe Reflex shocks. I had Rancho RS5000 on my truck and they were less then worth while. Changed to Monroe Reflex and have enjoyed a better ride on and off-road.
