80K miles on my '00 QC. So far the engine has been OK aside of the valve lash adjuster tapping. I wouldn't call it as trouble free as my former two small block Chevy's(my personal experience, please no bashing!), but compared to some of the problems that other 4.7's have I consider myself to be pretty lucky so far. Most manufacturers will have a few problem engines and the 4.7 is no exception. So far the more common problems seem to be valve lash adjusters, oil pump failure9w/o warning), sludging(sometimes causing oil pump failure)and blown head gaskets. Be on top of your regular maintainance and don't let odd noises or oil pressure fluctuations go unchecked. I'm considering changing my oil pump before 100K just as a precaution, but it looks to be a major job.

My '03 QC will be two years old in March. It will turn 62,000 miles tomorrow. I've had no trouble.

I have only had the module of my windshield wipers replaced, it was a recall item, and although I hadn't had a problem w/it, they asked me if I wanted it replaced, since the truck was in for it's oil change, anyway. I didn't even know there was a recall, they told me.

117,000 miles not a problem. Changed one upper ball joint. Trans is still strong. Began to have a idle problem a few weeks ago seemed to be a dirty throttle body so I don't count that as a problem.

39,400 and some miles. Had a temperature sensor falure in the hard drive of computer at about 5000 or so miles(dealer reflash tsb) And had some oil smoke on cold startup at around 12000 like a valve stem seal. Ran some sea foam in for a few minutes at idle in the crankcase at the next oil change, and nothing since. Fingers crossed it lasts as long as my old '95 318, witch was driven pretty hard for 314000 or so with only the belly pan gasket going bad.

Like Scooter i got the wiper motor recall/replacement when I had the pre paid oil change.

A little 25k miles on mine now. But I don't drive mine to work. Some miles are highway (easy miles) and some are HARD off-road miles.

My 4.7L is strong but the suspension is a POS. 58K miles and replaced the brakes, replaced the tie rod ends, one hub assembly and have another about to be replaced. I live in Florida and the Dak is a 2wd that doesn't go off road so its kinda ridiculous.

My '01 4.7 has light mods and 51,000mi. I full throttle accelerate from every stoplight and stopsign. I'm half way through my 5th set of tires on 17r/t rims. I changed the oil every 4,000-5,000 w/ filter. Except for having a rough idle (only when a/c is off) since new, it,s been a very healthy motor. I had a '92 3.9 w/light mods same driving style and a new set of rubber every year. Redlined the engine from every light w/152,000mi, that little engine never lost one drop of oil 6yrs I had her. Sold me on dodge.

I have a 2001 4.7 4X4 with 115,000 miles on it.
I have had only minor problems until about 2
months ago when I lost compression in 2 cylinders.
I had to get a valve job done. While they were
at it, I had them replace the timing chain and
water pump - runs great now. The 45FRE tranny
still shifts smoothly.

Just read "Figols" post and am also considering
having my oil pump changed. My mechanic will
do it for about $450.00. Even though I maintain
the vehicle at recommended intervals, I am
concerned about the sludge issue and don't want
to take any chances. The mechanic will obviously
get a good look at the bottom end during the
pump replacement.

70K on my 2000 CC 4.7 4X4. Replaced the steering rack (under warranty), rear u-joint after it cracked, front brakes, heater core ($1200), and a couple of recalls. All that and I still love this truck. It's solar yellow with 32" Wrangler MTRs. Wouldn't trade it for anything out there.

So far I have 45,000 miles on my 4.7 QC and have had 0 problems. I absolutely love this truck! I don't think that I will ever own anything but a Dodge truck. (Well maybe sports car someday as well). I do all of the maintenance every 5k miles and most of the time the oil doesn't even seem very dirty. I would have to say that this is the best vehicle that I have ever owned. Of course, it certainly helps that I baby it too.
