I went from a 255/70/15s Dayton Daytonas when I bought the truck and it was like a 28" tire I believe and now I just installed 255/60/15s Daytons as well.

this also adjusted my speedometer correctly! I was reading 3-4 mph slow according to the dash now it is bang on! I guess the tire decrease set my tires height back to stock just alot wider!

Can anyone tell me if this will affect my quarter mile times?? Or am I dreaming??

As far as gearing goes:

1. If you have a 3.55 rearend and 255/70 R 15 tires, changing to 255/60 R 15's would be the same as if you kept your current wheels and tires but changed your rearend gears to 3.81.

2. If you have a 3.92 rearend and 255/70 R 15 tires, changing to 255/60 R 15's would be the same as if you kept your current wheels and tires but changed your rearend gears to 4.21.

How's that?

Seems odd that the new tires are a lot wider as you say. 255 is the tire width at the widest part of the sidewall so they should be about the same.

The 70 series are 29" and the 60's are 27".

The shorter tires will give you more bottom end torque but may hurt slightly in the top end.

It depends on a lot of variables, the smaller tires may actually improve your times. Best way to tell is take it to the track. The better bottom end may compensate enough for the top end and actually give a better time.

I know exactly what it means about tire width and ratios of that sort. The other question i was pointing out is what size tire does this truck run stock how tall is it? The 27" tire I have now doesnt feel all that different? I guess I will have to take it to the track and find out.

Thanks
