 Subject: oil pressure drop

i bought my 97 dakota 5.2 4x4 approx. 3 years ago. about a year after i bought it i was driving on the eway adn when i got off and came to a stop the pressure when all the way down but when i hit the ecelerator the pressure went back up. i took it in to the dealership and they told me it was the oil sending unit i replaced it and it still does it, i had the pump checked the said it was fine and it still drops almost everytime i stop the truck til this day. has anyone else had this problem?

as always, first step, check it with a mechanical gage. if it's ok then don't worry. if it's not, drop the pan and check/clean the pick up screen on the oil pump, if not that change the oil pump, if it's not that, excessive wear on cam and or main bearings = rebuild.

FYI - i did a search on this site for "oil pressure drop". it's only been done about 300 times.
