Yep. Big rig was stuck in snow. 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with tow package and the 4.7. I had to pull it about 12 feet on a slight decline. First attempt snapped tow rope, second time with the chain and out she went. Just to show that the 4.7 can pull.

I have police push bars on my 2004 4.7, and this weekend I pushed a little old lady's car up a steep hill in the snow. Does that count?

Wakely.
I bought them from Setina Mfg in Olympia Wa.
They came with mounting brackets specific to my vehicle.
Kinda pricey, but bolted right up, and looks good, too. They come in steel and aluminum (same price for either).

Here's their site for the model I bought.

http://www.setina.com/bump_PB100.php

You have to order by phone, and there's a shipping charge, of course. I live close, so I just went there and picked them up to save a few bucks.

I pulled an 18,000 lb disabled backhoe up about a 20 degree long gravel driveway in 4 Lo. Backhoes get a rocking motion as they move along; scubbed out a bit every time it rocked back on the chain. I think that's getting towards the upper limits of what we can pull...

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Too funny Clybon.

I pull a 16' trailered smoker pretty regular, probably weighs in at a ton fully loaded down with wood and groceries on the grill cooking. Thats usually with another couple of hundredpounds in the bed of the truck too. No problems. When the bed is unloaded but still hooked up to smoker, its not unusual to spin the rear tires when leaving a lite as the trailer is somewhat tail-heavy.

Now I am getting hungry for some smoked pork.

Laughing boy - what lies ? The only claim I found suspicious was Izzy's - a tail heavy trailer would handle very poorly and you'd have to chock the rear up instead of the tongue. I've spun the wheels myself pulling a 4000 lb boat off a stoplight. O.K., maybe Clybon's was fictitious too; but I say we give him the benefit of the doubt.

I was only saying I had tire spin problems getting into it from a dead stop due to the tail heavy trailer trying to lift the rearend of my truck up. Truck / trailer was wanting to do a /\ in the middle.

And heck yea it handled like crap, I usually have several hundred pounds of other stuff in the truck when pulling the trailer, not that day as I was taking the trailer to get some welding done on it.

when you took the trailer off, did you have to support the back, rather than the tongue ?

Yep! I had a hell of a time hooking it up, got some nasty dents in my tail gate to prove it too. I didn't have enough blocks to support the rear of the trailer high enough to get the tongue down and had to stand on it to hook it up to the truck. I hated driving with it due to the odd weight load. We have since relocated storage boxes and such so that it is very tongue heavy.

It is a dual axle with a old underground 750 gal. propane tank welded just off center to the rear of the trailer. We left the front open for wood storage and cooler storage. If I ever think about it, I'll take a pic and post it...of course I'll probably be showing off a 100# of smoked pork & ribs too just to make you drool all over your keyboard!!!!
