Subject: 5.2.... Need some advice
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a complete 5.2 on the shop floor. Misfire #6, low compression; I'm fairly sure the rings are stuck or piston burned due to bad belly pan leak left unrepaired.

Now the question..... is it worth more parted out or rebuilt (bearings & rings)?

If rebuilding it is only going to get me a couple hundred bucks more after parts cost; I'll sell it as parts.... any suggestions?

If there is enough intrest in the major parts; I'll break 'er down and sell things off.

But if intrest in a fresh field overhaul engine will make the work worthwhile, I'll build it.

Are you wanting a bare block or short block?

Location, East central Florida

That's where I'm running into problems...... The math is just not working towards rebuilding..... say $300 in parts and $200 in labor (me) to sell an engine for $500 ??

It's looking like I will have 2 heads and a crank for sale plus other stuff like a fuel rail and sensors for E-bay unless a rebuilt will go for some better $$$
