V8- 2001 Dakota. Auto Tranny
all of a sudden a warning light came on today and I don't have a manual to look it up to see what I need to do.
It lit up on the left side of the dash and it appears to be a picture of a motor.
I have checked the tran. fluid and oil and they both are good to go.
Can someone tell me what this warning symbolizes??
Thanx,
John

Do the old ignition on-off-on-off-on and read the display on the odometer.

Good going Allan. I've never heard about doing that before. I take it that it's the computers clue telling me where the problem is.
It says: "CRUISE". Which I am assuming it's referring to the cruise control. Right? or no?
Could it possible be that the cruise control has a fluid reservoir like the brakes do and it needs some type of fluid? If so, would you happen to know what kind. (Anyone feel free to answer :~)

Scratch that!! after cruise it reads: P0442.
I've entered this same info on the general board. Guess I should use just one board.
Thanx everyone...
John

Check your fuel cap, look for rust on the tank side of the cap, at the center.

Also check the 2 curved hoses that go into your vapor canister for splits. (vapor canister is just foward of the fuel tank)
