Subject: dropping oil pressure, please help

After coming to a hard stop, my oil gauge drops to 0. Once i start moving again it goes back up to normal.

the dak still has a studder too it, it happens only some times. Right around 2k or so. And something else i noticed that was kinda odd, is that when i am in 2nd and holding about 3k rpms, when i got to stomp on it it jumps to like 3400 and then falls back to 3k. Any idea on why that is happening?

Also it some times like bucks real hard once i let off the throttle.

I put in new plugs/cap rotor this weekend. Should of seen one of the rear plugs, completly covered in oil. I also ran some seafoam through, i got video of all the smoke that was pouring out. will post it up soon.

Keep in mind that i just had the b-pan and intake manifold gaskets replaced. Could it be the head gasket?

took off the hose that runs from the back of the air hat to the crankcase and found oil in it. So i purchased a crank case breather filter and epoxy the back of the air hat.

Seems to be running a lot better, and have yet to have the oil pressure to drop to 0. And also havent been smelling oil burning.

now i am awaiting my new airhat.

Check your oil pressure with a mechanical gauge before you do anything else. All you need is a cheap $10. one from any parts store. Unscrew the OP sensor from your engine and screw in the fitting for the mechanical gauge. If you're pressure is still low you may have a stuck oil filter bypass valve or even worse, a blockage in the oil pump pick up screen. Since you just had engien work done it is possible that some gasket material fell down in to the engine and is blocking the screen. I've also heard it is common for these engines to produce sludge much like the 4.7L does. But get the gauge first. Never trust the dash gauges.

If you are burning oil it is likely coming from a broken oil ring(which may not show up in a compression check), worn valve seals or guides, stuck pcv valve(which will also cause blow by), a leaking intake manifold or head gasket. If only one spark plug had oil on it I would check that cylinders compression and also do a leak down test. A leak down test should point you in the direction of either valve train leaking or cylinder blow by.

thanks for the recomendations. Is the leak down test and compression test something that i could do? or would i be better off takin it to the shop?

Also, i have had a blown b-pan and intake gasket, which were both replaced with the re-inforced kit. should the mechs of seen the head gasket was blown if that was the case?
