Subject: Will a 360 fit in place of a 318

This is probably a stupid question, but I honestly don't know. I have a '99 318. In the future I will most likely want to upgrade my motor to a 360. First off will hit bolt directly in, second off will all my cooling stuff, alternator, EPA, etc.. bolt and fit into place?

Everything will fit. The block dimensions are the same. You will need a 360 PCM to run the engine, external balancer and flexplate. That should just about cover it.

then your engine probably shakes... and dependibility will be out the wall.

318 is internally balanced while a 360 is externally balanced.

... so the 360 requires a different flexplate or a balanced torque converter... which ever you choose to do.
