Big engine swap going on here. Major concerns as well.
I have a 97 dakota with a 2.5 5 speed(I bought the bare bone stock truck to modify to the fullest) Well engine is in the back of the truck tranny still there.
Someone wants to give me a 76 Valore with the 5.9 360 autotrans. Well its 70 something pretty sure 76 is right.
Now Big problems I know.. 1 is it worth the trouble? Moter mounts and computer I know have to change, but what about tranny issues.. Can I keep a 5 speed with that set up? Will this even work?
Hopefully I get some good info from everyone, been reading on this site for past 2 weeks straight. I love my Dakota, and need it back on the road.

Probably won't have the right flywheel for a standard, and your standard probably won't hold up to its power. I think that was one of the "lean burn ignition" years, you'll want to upgrade the ignition if you decide to go with it. Not as strong as a Magnum 360; but not a bad motor either - looking for something like that myself for my '69 Barracuda.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

if your using the 360 and going std you,ll need a flywheel from a LA360,because there ext.balanced, summit, jegs or MP may have them,

5spd from a 5.2 will work or a 3.9 will bolt up[the 3.9 may not stand up well to the 360s torque]the bellhousing is made to the trans on these
