Just switched to Amsoil today. Flushed out the engine, and poured that liquid gold into my baby. Also got the differential fluid, but might have a mechanic do that. not sure how to do that myself. But, anyway I have two questions. 1. while I was changeing my oil, I noticed when I went to dump some cheap oil in to flush out my engine before putting in Ams, there was a milky white substance on the inside of my filler cap, and a trail of it running down as far as I could see(about 8 inches). I'm new at this game But I think that means water. What is going on with that? 2. I was thinking about putting Amsoil ATF in my tranny, but I have talked to a couple of guys who said that there is no way to even get most of it out, and I would have to have it flushed with Amsoil ATF about 3 times before I would have a large enough amount to even be worth it. Are they for real, or do these guys know what they are talking about? Anyway, I apologize for the lengthy post and would appriciate any advise. I love this Forum, and you guys are a great help!!! Thanks for checking me out.

Well, if you only dropped the pan and refilled you would need to do it 3 times to get to about 90% Amsoil.

1st change 50% AMS
2nd change 75% AMS
3rd change 88% AMS
4th change 94% AMS
5th change 97% AMS

If you flush the tranny, it should do about the same as doing 3 pan drops since it's pumping in new fluid while it's pumping out the old, of course your not going to get it all out. When I flushed my tranny I could see when the Amsoil started coming out, this was after 6 -7 quarts of old dark nasty fluid had been pumped out, This was after dropping the pan, replacing the fiters and topping of the tranny with 7 quarts of AMS. Using a clear hose on the tranny line helps to see when the fluid changes color.

Replacing the diff fluid is pretty straight forward; unbolt the diff cover and pry it off, let the diff drain while cleaning the silicone and oil off the cover and housing, apply a bead of silicone to the diff cover and bolt it down to the diff housing, let the silicone setup and fill the diff up with Amsoil. Sit back with a cold brew and admire your work (sometimes this takes 2 brews if the job was done extremely well)!

If you don't want to take off the diff. cover get a hand pump and pump the fluid out the fill hole.

I pumped out all I could - waited 30 minutes and pumped out what drained to the bottom.

I was able to put in the recommended fill amount so I got all of it.

Thanks Guys. Appreciate it. I'll give it a shot myself. I guess that's the best way to learn.

Stop posting links to your stupid thread!

Funny thing, is if that SCAM worked, you would have heard about millionaires on TV by now.

Why you ask?

Because this is about the 7th year I've seen that B.S. email chain come around!
Hell, I remember in the ICQ days that sh*t would be passed around by all the idiots to each of their friends on their list.

No one I know has EVER got rich.

And take that sh*t to some jap-crap board or soemthing. There should be a few sucker kids over on them boards. There be grown up men over here who don't fall for that sh*t!

Oh yeah. Sorry bowhunter. It's just that this is the multiple thread i've seen his crap about that scam.

But seriously, if you look around that milk shake has been a ongoing problem and nothing to worry about.

It's just that the filler neck is PLASTIC and is so much cooler the humidy condensates in the neck.
I don't have that problem here in Az. But I understand how that would happen.
