Judging by the borderline intelligence in some of the posts I've read, even though there are no wires to mix up on the 4.7L engine, someone would do it.
And then ask what the firing order was.

According to the info provided earlier in this post that would be
the third cylinder on the left side viewed standing in front
facing the engine compartment.

Hi, not a big online chatter form guy, and i
see this is ancient but I gotta share. and
mostly chevy wrencher, I now own a 07 4.7 ram,
found this site searching cylinder numbering,
I have a miss on 2, Im changing all the coils
and plugs, just wanted to know where #2 was.
I work in Electrical Test for a comp. that makes
this stuff.
So I ordered My New Plugs, Ordered new wipers,
Added the 8 Coil On PLug coils, Looked at the
coil boots, (didnt order Assumed the would be
on my new COIL ON PLUG coils, (just wait its
coming) and then, yes here it comes,
and then,
couldn't figure out why the DUMB WEBSITE
wouldnt give me the part number (yup YOU GUESSED
IT,) THE PART NUMBER FOR THE WIRES! went to
ADVANCE AUTO, and ROCK AUTO site, before I
realized BRAIN was in OFF MODE>
I immediately turned over my COOL CAR GUY card,
Had to share after reading the above posts about
firing order.
Thanks for the cylinder info though,

I have a 2003 dodge 1500 4.7. I got a cylinder 3
misfire code. I thought it was the coil. Nope was
the spark plugger. Even tho i change all the plugs
and coil packs 9k ish miles ago...

I have a 2004 Dakota 4.7. Engine light came on, code
indicated a misfire on cylinder 4. I replaced all
the spark plugs and coil packs. Engine light is
still on. Does it take a time or several miles
before the engine light goes off?

Code 306 means misfire in cylinder 6.
It might be useful to know where cylinder 6 is
located.
