tried to swap my 2000 intake for a 04 cause i heard they were the same as the one they use on the ho motor and it bolted up the same but the hoses were all different and there was a large hole on the drivers side that was left open not to mention a vacumn port on the rear passenger side that leads to pvc was missing. anyone installed a 04 intake manifold. how'd you do it? i had to put my old one back on to get home.
thanks,

I thought I explained this before, it can be done but, you have to buy the PCV hose for the '03-'04 manifold from the dealer. Also, the PCV valve is a different size, either you buy the newer type or buy a hose adapter at a hareware store. You'll also need a vacuum T because the newer manifolds have less fittings on them. Other than those things and the fact that the dipstick tube is in the freaking way, it's a piece of cake.

i bought an 04 intake and it didn't have a pvc fitting on the passenger side like my old one. it had a huge hold on the passenger side which was left open and ran like crap once i started it up. what do i do with the 1 1/2 inch hole on the drivers side? plus the iat sensor did not have a port on this manifold. well actually it looked like it had a spot where i was suppose to drill it out, like a punch out. anyone put on a 04 manifold and know what i am talking about? i had to reinstall my old manifold. it sounds like most of the advice i'm getting is for the 02 ho intake which i think differs in installation than the 04

The 2000 has a screw-in IAT sensor that mounts vertically, the 2004 has a twist-in sensor that mounts horizontally on the same runner on the driver's side 3rd one back (#5 I think). The only PCV connection you need is the one in back on the driver's side. Ignore all the molded areas on the intake plenum that look like something mounts there. There shouldn't be any holes except for the 2 vacuum fittings on the driver's side of the plenum, the IAT hole also on the driver's side low, the PCV fitting on the back and the MAP sensor hole on the front. I certainly hope you didn't drill any holes in that new manifold. And I know what I'm talking about, I installed an '04 manifold on my 2000.

there is no hole for iat. that's what i'm saying. it's just like a molding there around cyl#5 ?? plus a hole on same side behind throttle body much larger than any iat would be. wish i could post pic.

someone look at wjeeps.com pictures of manifolds for the 04 4.7. that punch out on drivers side, the large one, is open, or punched out and it shouldn't be. the one for the iat is not punched out, but it should be. i was told when i ordered it no returns on a special order piece. what do i do?

I've seen those pics. That no return policy shouldn't apply if the part is defective. You need to talk to the people you got the manifold from and get it exchanged for one that's made correctly.

it did apply. i told them over the phone and he said sorry it's always been our policy no returns on special orders even after i told him it might be defective. is it reallly though? it looks like that's how it's suppose to be. anyone in md want to install it for me? anyone want to take my loss and buy it from me? either one will be fine, i just dont want a $110 part sitting in my garage. $80 shipped anyone? see wjjeeps.com

Did you order that part from a place outside the USA, like Canada? Did you buy the correct IAT and try to install it? Take it to a dealer parts counter and show them the manifold and ask if it's defective. My manifold has a large, round molded area on the driver's side behind the TB but, there's no hole. The IAT is a twist-in style so you won't see any threads. What's the part number on that manifold?

Hey Jason, I know why you had a hard time with that intake manifold. It's for a 2005 4.7L, I saw one under the hood of a '05 Jeep Gr Cherokee today. The big hole is for a 1" tube that runs to the back of the engine into a T connector that appears to go to the heads. There's no IAT sensor hole on the '05 because the #5 intake runner just has the molding not a hole, the '05 IAT has been relocated to the intake tube that connects to the airhat. You wanted the '04 intake manifold didn't you?
