I have a 99 Dakota 4x4 club cab with the 318 in it. I have 263000 Miles. So far I have had to replace the intake gasket and regular maintenance. Doesn't use a drop of oil. Just wanted to let people know there are some good dakotas out there.

thats good I have 102,000 on the same truck I did my belly pay at about 97,000 miles and I've replaced all the balljionts the left upper had been replaced before because it wasn't rivited on. My truck runs great still better than when I bought it with 70,000 miles.

That is great to hear. My 99 CC 318 has 73k miles on it; I just got it at 70k miles. It uses a little oil; but I think it may be due to that belly pan gasket leaking.

What kind of oil and filters do you use? What is the interval at which you do your oil changes?

I'm using Mobil 1 10w30 with Mobil 1 filters; I think I'll be doing oil changes every 6k miles.

Have you ever had to change out the fuel filter? I noticed the other day that it has to be replaced with the fuel pump.

same truck; 99,000 right now. I bought it last year at 85,000mi and I replaced a blown out belly pan gasket on the intake manifold, new serp belt and tensioner, and a bad throttle position sensor. I consider this normal for the miles and age. Runs great!

Mine's a '97 with a 318, just over 120,000. I've only had it for a few months but haven't had any major problems so far. The worst thing has been I think the owner before me never flushed the coolant system. My truck overheated forever this summer. I flushed the whole thing twice, replaced the water pump, backflushed the heater core, went through 3 thermostats, new belt, etc. Finally took the radiator out and realized that some of the tubing in the radiator was so clogged I couldn't even see though them. Rodded the tubes and it's been great since. The engine has tons of power, the only thing I have had to replace a lot on it is the gas and the tires ;)

I don't do anything special to keep it running. I use a standard oil filter and Quaker State 5w-30. I change the oil every 3000 miles. Never changed the fuel filter. I am a salesman so I travel the whole state of Wisconsin. Before this I had a 94 Dakota I sold it at 219000. That truck is still running. it has over 325000 on it now. Uses a little bit of oil but no major problems. Now I am driving a 2003 quad cab. The transmission blew at only 15000 miles! It was replaced no charge. But this truck has 104000 on it now. No major problems.

Ive got a 1998 Durango with the 360 with 131,000 miles on it. I bought it with 94,000. Still going strong. The only thing ive done was replace upper balljoints with Moogs once and the waterpump just went out. Otherwise still runs great.
