I just bought a '99 r/t and i've noticed that sometimes when I'm just driving normally down the road it doesn't want to shift into 3rd until it almost redlines. The only exception to this is if I let off the gas in 2nd it will go ahead and shift to third. But when it does shift it seems to shift ok, but just like it doesn't know when to shift. I am completely ignorant when it comes to trannies and i'm wondering what any of you think. Does this mean that my transmission is going out? Or is there a way to change the shift points?

the TV cable may be hanging up,
[but before you go adjusting it make sure your not pushing the gas paddle down further when it does this]
unhook the cable from the throttle body and move the cable in and out to see if its smooth operating and not hanging up some,[this is the cable that goes down to the trans]
the previous owner may have set the cable to do this to hold the shift points higher up and for faster down shifts
