Subject: Fuel Pump replacement

After some tinkering around and checking all elctrical systems I have come to the conclusion that my fuel filter needs to be replaced. For those of you that didn't know yet it happens to be part of the Fuel Pump YEAH! A quick low cost fix looks to be a little more involved and ALLOT MORE MONEY.

Anyways I wanted to ask if anyone has replaced their fuel pump before(Mine: 22gal 98 5.2 Dakota Sport). I will drop the tank if I have to but am wondering if I can get access if I just pull off the bed. Can anybody help?

Much easier to pull the bed...

Just replaced mine (98 sport 5.2L) 2 weeks ago.
Truck run fine for a couple days, then no fuel again. Found a short in the wiring harness from the fuse panel.

good luck

Are you getting power to the fuel pump? I had an adventure a couple of months ago where I lost power at highway speeds, and stalled on the side of the road. A wire had popped out of a bracket and got worn through by the drivers side front tire. Check underneath the mud shroud to make sure everything is OK. Dodge dealer found it in 10 minutes, which was a hell of a lot easier than dropping out the tank.
