97 Gen III here! SLT, Flowmaster 40' single in dual out, dumpped! K&n Homebrew, Lakewood traction bars. Love her the same as the day I got her!!!!95.000 + miles and she still runs like a bat outa hell!!!! Kees up with R/t's all the time!!!!318's can be modded as much as you want. 4.7's are neat but I'll keep my 5.2!!! look me up at Dak usa as Dakster!

i got a 93' 5.2. it has 180,000 miles on it but still runs good and i love it. I would rather have my 5.2 over a 4.7 anyday

I have two daks with 318's. love them both to death. had a 93 with 181000 when i sold it, my neighbor still drives it as hard as i did, and it still has all original parts right down to valve cover gaskets.

I gotta 1995 5.2, original 3.9 truck, 5 speed, with MP computer, M-1 intake, RT-2 cam, Thorley headers, 3 inch full exhaust, 40 series flowmaster dumped, LT1 fuel injectors(a sin to put chevy parts on a dodge but they work great) 3.91 gears, next on the wish list, roller rockers, F+B throttle body, and going to auto. No time slips affraid to tear out the 3.9 5 speed which is still taking the beating.

I have a 97 slt cc 4x4 with 124000 miles on her, I just installed gibson headers, hi pro cat, gibson cat back afe air intake, bosh platinum 4 plugs and hypertech programer. I tow a 25 ft lite travel trailer and we are headed to alaska in the spring. wondering if anybody would have any other suggestions on how to make the old girls job easyer. also any ideas on what kind of hp and torque it may be making now. Thanks for the help Randy

The only problem that I had other than cutting out the old exhaust was the header on the drivers side had a little clearence problem with the brake booster, just mark the spot on the header that the booster is touching then remove and slowly heat the spot with a torch and dimple the header with a ball pean hammer to give it clearence. good luck

Randy ... what gear ratio do you have? If 3.55, the 3.92 or 4.10 (same price) will lessen the stress of your towing right across the rpm band. Not inexpensive but well worth it for your trip to Alaska. You might have to go back to your stock program with the Hypertech too if the 5.2 starts pinging.

I got a black lowered 5.2 5speed with flows and a k&n 3.55 gears it pretty much domminates every thing on the street that is as close to stock as my truck

i have a 2000 durango with a 5.2.
nothing done to it.. but it's my gas mileage vehicle
hey, 14 city and 20 highway is a lot better than my other vehicle
