About 10 years ago I got a 1986 RAM form my Dad for free. His 318 threw a rod. That in itself amazed us because out of every Dodge V8 I had, my family had, or friends had we NEVER had one throw a rod. Only with Chevy's :-P

Anyway. He only had the truck about a year and we had noticed several things with it that showed the previous owners abuse to the truck.
When I pulled that 318 apart (to install my 360) I saw why it threw a rod. The entire engine was sludged up. Beyond sludge. It was CHARCOAL!!!
In between each and every rocker it looked like coal! There was just enough room for each rocker to move! The other owner must have driven tens of thoasands of miles in between oil changes.
What happened is my Dad bought it (for another Dependable Dodge you know) and when he started to take care of it, changing the oil, etc some of that sh*t started circulating in the engine and plugged some of the oil journals.

As far as AMSOIL goes I'm actually curious about using it myself. I would already except like a sucker I took that pre paid maintenance package and when I take it in to the dealer I barely have time to drop it off, or ask for better oil so they stick in whatever. That worries me. As soon as 36k miles comes up I will use synthetic. Most likely AMSOIL because of what I have heard from those here who DO use it themselves.

Oh yeah. With the many posts here about anything and everything the AMSOIL ads don't bother me one bit. They are a sponsor and have something to do with the trucks.

It's the damn idiot who comes in here selling cigerette's that pisses me off!

the worst cases i have seen as far as sludged engines is from the use of additives like stp or restore, especially if the engine is running a bit warm from friction of age etc. A lot of cold starts can kill oil too, especially with a carburated engine. They all get some level of 'gas washing' and that kills the oil fast. I have seen cleaner engines from those who don't regularly change their oil as opposed to those who use additives.

Two-cycle engine designs are changing and it's absolutely imperative that AMSOIL provides the best possible products for those new designs.

Direct fuel injection and exhaust power valves have been incorporated in two-cycle engines in efforts to improve performance, reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency. As a result, we're seeing leaner fuel-to-oil ratios and hotter-running engines, up to one-hundred and twenty degrees Fahrenheit hotter. This places additional demands on two-cycle oils.

Amsoil Interceptor 2-Cycle Oil eliminates exhaust power valves gumming up and sticking!

All of the ATV and Snowmobile Club Members PRAISE our oils.

Bannishment..no, let's try compromise. I liked DakHunter's idea of you having your own section posting all "product" information for our easy reference and use links within a thread to access them. I mean, come on Steve, I shouldn't have to take a commercial break (scroll, scroll, scroll) every other post on a thread. That's why I have pop-up-stopper on my computer. Just a thought...mayo.

mayo, if you and all your flamer buddies became PAYING MEMBERS then perhaps this site owner would not have to sell advertising space to cover his expenses. Perhaps then it would become a ADVERTISEMENT FREE SITE.

ever think of that, free-riding mayo? Become a paying member before you complain.
