Well I went to the track(hrp) and ran a best of 15.056@89 w/ a 2.2 60' in my '00 sc 4.7 dakota auto. I have a 3.55 open right now so next week I am getting 4.56's and a locker installed. From what I understand I won't need to get my computer flashed to do this. Is this true? I am an LS1 man and we have to re-flash the computer w/ a rear ratio change, so it seems kinda strange that the shift points could be the same w/ a different gear. Can someone explain this to me? I was also wondering what are the best mods to do to these engines. I now have an intake(and thats it). What else should I get? Are the shorty headers worth it? Does anyone make long tubes? Are there and after-market internal parts available? If so what and from who? What would the optimum shift points on a stock(bolt-on) engine be?

we are all waiting anxiously for aftermarket
parts! CW has installed HO 4.7 cams, but
other companies are currently working on
aftermarket cams. Get a PCM flash from KRC
or Kenne Bell, I heard that these create the
most power gains in the 4.7 motor, so far. get
a larger throttle body, 68mm or 70mm, and all
the minor bolt ons (180 stat, exhaust, etc) So
far, the stock 4.7 headers seem to be
sufficient, and most people have said that
switching to aftermarket headers will not
show much, if any performance gains.

Cams are just 4.7 HO cams for a 2002 Jeep Grand. Helped my ¼ mile about 2 tenths.

Easier. You just need the special tool for the cam chains.

HO cams

Quick quesiton about the HO cams... What is the difference between the HO's available from KRC performance and the ones I would get from the dealership? Anyone have input on this it would be greatly appreciated. Untill tonight I never realized that you are all most likely talking about the factory option when you say "HO cams".....

Thanks-

If you see "HO" anywhere - including KRC - it is in reference to the factory 4.7 HO jeep cam. The only thing you should be able to confuse with this is Jonas' EHO - that has nothing to do with DC, its his own trademark.

The HO Cams from KRC will arrive at your door with the instruction manual and the cam wedge tool that is necessary to install the new cams. Some people have access to the Factory Service Manual and have made their own wedge, but if you add it all up, the $200 package from KRC is a reasonable deal.

The HO cams you get at the dealer are physically the saem thing, but you have to find the wedge tool and the instructions on your own.

Even more reasonable is the HO Cam and HO Intake from BuyMopar.com, with shipping all the way to San Diego they came to $252.00 and I made the wedge tool from a picture/specs found on this website (search it) out of some wood. Install easy easy easy...output awesome, best 250 bucks I ever spent!

Can't go wrong with buymopar.com (fred smith)... I know I push them a lot but in 1999 when I blew the tranny for the second time in my premag I wanted an a-518 nonlockup, this guy spent 6 weeks looking for one and researching it, then still gave me a great price because of the wait... the MP one was on "national backorder" so he found me an alternative!!! Since then he has ben great as well....

For the instructions goto speedtweaks, they are on there, order the wedge tool from krcperformance (he sends instructions as well) and you cann't go wrong... Heck I was havign a tough time with the wedge tool, I called marty and after about 5 mintues of him explaining it over the phone it went right in....

Yea as chris says, $110 for the cams, from R.I.Dodge!

Just did mine last weekend, a friend made the wedge to specs out out wood, worked fine!

So, shipped to my door, ~$122, home made wedge(many have done it w/o the tool).

You can get the HO intake for around $120 also.

Dr. Dak has the right idea.

I put my HO cams in last week and noticed a difference. Like Texas Todd , I bought mine from R.I. Dodge for $58.00 a piece+shipping. Best HP to $ ratio I've seen (nos doesn't count).
Anyway, as far as air intakes, TB, K&N filters and all that stuff, there doesn't seem to be that much of a HP/Torque increase on the 4.7 for the money according to many posts.
I think I'm going for the Kenne Bell supercharger and be done with it. Expensive: yes, but from all the threads I've seen, it's the ultimate air intake for the 4.7.
