I Just bought my 2nd Dak. Upgraded from a '93 CC 3.9L 4X4 to my new (to me) '02 QC 4.7L 4X4. Same gas mileage (15 mpg) except now I have A/C too, It get's hotter than hades down here in TX!

I Love my new truck & knew what I was getting into when I bought it. I work hard & play even harder and this time I got all the extra's I wanted the 1st time. My average has dropped to around 13.5mpg but that's from my driving habits (Enjoying the V8 too much)

Upcoming Mod's:
Deer Killer/Brushguard -2to3 mpg
Car Killer rear Bumper & tool box -1 mpg (extra weight)
Bug Deflector/Window Shades/Nerf bars -1mpg (wind drag)
Flowmaster 40 w/dual outs -varies (depending on how many times I want it to growl)
Lift + larger tires -3 to 5 mpg

K&N airfilter & All Synthetic.... Lucky to get +1mpg

But I know this before I'm doing it & plan on suckin it up and truckin on!

Next time a Honduh wants to race
Ask him how many sheets of plywood he can haul?

I wanted to add to the A/C portion of this. Running your A/C is actually supposed to be better than running with the windows down. I've heard that with the windows down, it creates more drag on your truck, slowing you down. Took me by suprise when I heard it, but it makes sense.

"My highways mileage jumped from 14.2 to 15.6
With 4.10s i gained mpg over the 3.55s.
In town is a little higher but not by much"

Maybe it's because you added super-duper synthetic oil. LOL

On a more serious note, it depends on whether or not that is city or hwy. I remember when NY cabs ran Dana rear ends with 4.56 gears. With higher gears, low numerically, you get poorer gas milage in slow stop and go traffic. Those cabs got very poor milage on the hwy.

Debate this- It takes more gas to accelerate from 0 to 30 than from 30 to 60.
