 Subject: quick question

I have a 98 dak 4x4 5.2. I live in northern Mi and was wondering if I change oil before winter can I run a 5w30 instead of 10w30 for the winter. Will I gain any benefit from this and will it harm the truck. Second will a K&N drop in filter make any improvements in HP or MPG with no other modifications??????

The "5w" will help in cold weather startup while the "30" part will maintain lube under normal operation. The K&N will help, but don't expect a huge increase. I mean, it's just a filter, not nitrous.

I use 5W30 Mobile 1 in my 5.9 year round.
The K&N drop in filter will not change anything.
