Message:
Hey does anyone know if it is possible to run a 5.7l hemi with a Keisler T56 6spd transmission using a stand alone pcm. I'm doing some research for this particular setup as I would like to put one in my 87Dakota. If anyone knows anything about this please respond.

I have an 03' Hemi drivetrain with all the sensors and do-dads in my garage. I got it out of a flipped ram. I'm waiting for dodge to release a kit to transplant it into my dakota. The electronic throttle is what is holding me back right now. The speed sensors are not helping any. Dodge is readying a kit as we speek.

Thanks for the insight Smoke, I was worried about the electronic throttle control as well. I wonder if there is a way to make it work using manual linkage. Anyhow keep me posted on the kit that Chrysler is coming out so we can put them in our Daks. I have a Gen I I'm not worried about mounting, just making it function is my concern. I think the way we would have to go is a stand alone pcm, especially if you are like me and want to mate it up to a 5 or 6 spd. Anyways hopefully between the two of us, we can figure something out.

In a word, yes, it's possible.
http://www.hotrodlane.cc/ now has a wiring harness for stick or automatic, and the stock PCM can be used. I've also seen "FAST" stand-alone systems being used. The 5.7 uses the same bellhousing bolt pattern as traditional LA's and Magnums. Maybe Mopar has changed it's ways, but I'm still waiting to see the Magnum conversion kit that would allow Magnum MPI to be used in non-computerized vehicles (first mentioned in the early 90's. Never happened...at least not by them. Hopefully, they're serious this time.

Only thing needed is a goog aftermarket manifold and any MPI system (Edlebrock, Accell etc) would be an easy bolt on.
