Anyone seen a '01 5.9 R/T 4wd quad. No matter...Anyway...I got one. Tryin' to find out what the original tire size was so I can 'cifer the speedo error. It has 32" tires on it with a 3 " lift. Been checking Tire Rack and Discount for original replacement sizes, but no listing for a 4wd quad r/t. Closest I can find is 255/55-17 on a 5.9 r/t 2wd or a 235/75-15 for a SLT 4wd...
Any thoughts...

Original size on that was probably 265/70-16.

I could be wrong here, but I'll say it anyway. I don't beleieve the R/T was available as a quad cab or 4x4. I think it was strictly an extended/club cab, and only 2WD.
I have a '01 QC, 4x4, with a 5.9l. But it's not an R/T.

Thanks for the reply b1llyw. If that's the case I got somthin' else goin on. Checked the speedo today against a gps. Little under 10 mph slow. At 65 actual, speedo says 56. Done replaced the speed sensor...guess I need a TruSpeed box...

Well guys...guess I got a bastard here. Will post some pics as soon as I can, but it is titled as a R/T and it's quad cab and 4x4 with a 5.9. Vin is 1B7662AZ21S103381. Don't know enough specifics about an R/T to compare but I also have a '99 3.9 V6 SLT 2WD. The R/T does not have many of the SLT goodies. Anyway, whatever it is..I still gotta have a TrueSpeed I guess. Thanks for the input.

A 4X4 RT was made in Mexico, available only in Mexico. I am sure that they came with the 5.2L engine only. If yours has a 5.9L someone may have swapped engines. Maybe it just has 5.9L stickers??? Check the VIN and see where it was made and sold.

Oops...wrong VIN, G's instead of 6's...1B7GG2AZ21S103381. Been searching to find out what my truck is recorded as. Some sources show a SLT, some not, some note an extended cab...it is neither...??? Don't think it was made in Mexico, possible I guess. I'm surely confused now. Anyone know a site that will give me the real scoop for my vin or what's included in an R/T package?

The R/T package came with.
-5.9 360 motor with 4spd Auto
-3.92 gears
-only 2wd
-lowered suspension
-bumpers were body color
-3" cat-back exhaust
-17X9 R/T rims
-fender flares
I think that's everything??

-5.9 360 motor with 4spd Auto
-not sure about the rear end
-4wd
-raised suspension
-chrome bumpers
-3" cat-back exhaust
-fender flares are Zenon and hood scoops
Looks like I got a crossbreed. Has the factory R/T graphics, but there was no 4wd R/T. Go figure. Maybe someone added the R/T graphics. Tech at the dealer said he never seen one like it. Oh well, no matter...it's a good truck.

Yeah, that's the first question, does it have R/T stickers on it?? Even so, a R/T:
1) Is only Reg or Club Cab, NOT Quad
2) Does not come in 4x4
The quad cabs did come with the optional 5.9L engine instead of the 4.7 for more torque.

Definitely a possibility. There are authentic R/T graphics. It's not a SLT, not likely an R/T, was there a 4x4 plain quad Dakota model with a 5.9? Door sticker shows the original tire size as P235R75-15XL. Mfg in Canada 07/00. Has a engine block heater, battery plate heater, appears factory.

Thanks Smoke...good Tip...seen them stickers in the glovebox all my life but never paid any 'tention to them.
Model - AN5L84 - don't know what that means
Trim Code - P9DV - don't know what that means
Axel Ratio - 3.55 DMD
Transfer Case - Electric - Shift on ??? - DHT
A few other goodies about 'auto trans' and '4 speed'.

Sounds to me like you have a Dakota Sport Quad Cab 5.9 4x4 with the Sport decals removed and R/T decals installed.

Well here is one for yea, I have a 02 extended
cab 4x4 4.7. Insurance says when they looked up
the vin number it's listed as a R/T.
I told them I was not gonna pay higher prices
for insurance all because it got tagged as a R/T.
I even had to explain to them what a *true* R/T
Dakota is, and it sure wasn't a 4x4 either.
I offered to let them look the Dakota over. They
finally were convinced that I wasn't trying to
screw them over and sold me the correct insurance.
