I've seen some people mention using or needing traction bars. (Even saw a rigged up setup using rods and valve springs on another site.)

I have a question....is there any reason a good old fashioned Mopar Performance pinion snubber won't work on a Dakota?

Seems to me it is much more stealthy and works wonderfully in every other RWD Mopar application I've ever seen.

Because there is nothing for the snubber to hit unless you weld an extra member into the frame. Get under there and take a peak.

Hmmmm, on any other application (read: car) the snubber hits the floorpan, not a cross member. The MP unit is height adjustable and MP says it can be used on "any vehicle with the correct axle".

I just wanted some opinions before I drop +/-$40 on one.

Well, I guess what I was saying is, you ought to measure how far it is up to the bottom of the bed floor (what the snubber will be hitting) from the top of the pinion yoke support.

Then you ought to ask Mopar how far their pinion snubber extends (will it actually make contact with the bed?).

Then you ought to look at the pinion yoke on the diff housing and see if there's any bolt holes for the snubber to bolt into. And if not, then you ought to find out how far into the housing you can drill without penetrating the case so you can bolt on your snubber and nto ventilate the case.

And don't forget some sort of reinforcing to keep the floor of the bed from bubbling up when you really launch it pretty hard and the snubber pushes up a huge dent in the bed.....

Just some food for thought.

I too have thought about this and so far the only reason I can come up with to avoid doing it is occasionally have to use my truck to move, or to move stuff for my friends and I'm not sure how much the loaded bed would push down on the snubber.

I figure if i do snud it I'd go with a welded on crosspiece and an adjustable snubber so when I was going to haul stuff I could just knock it down a notch or two. (given enough space of course)

Middy.

I recommend that you save your pennies and get Cal Tracs when you can afford them. They work perfectly.
