what is the stock exhaust pipe sizes on the '04 dakota 4.7l from the cat back? Just curious about what inlet size to buy for a new muffler if i stick with the stock pipe size. Also I've noticed alot of 3" center inlet, 2.5" dual outlet exhausts. Would this be able to work and still keep the spare tire in place?

The size on my 99 is 2.5. I dont know if it is diferent for your model or not. But a 3in 2-2.5 out muffler if not as efficent as a single flow. Looks a little with he dual outlet but you gotta balance the Look to Performance.

I have a 2002 4.7L Quad Cab. It has a 3" section of pipe about 3 feet long added between the third CAT and an Walker Dynomax Super Turbo 3" Inlet with dual 2.5" outlets(Muffler number(WLK-17674)! I beg to differ about the so-called "Inefficiency" of this dual outlet muffler! My Quad Cab really moves and has alot of torque and this muffler sounds good to boot! Not too loud but rumbles just enough to let you know that it's ready to perform! All of the original piping is factory stock up to and including the third CAT and this keeps the exhaust velocity up, just before dumping into the 3"(3-foot section)of pipe, just before the Dynomax muffler, which is mounted far back near the rearend!

I've got a 2004 dakota quad cab 4.7 liter, and I recently installed a Gibson extreme dual exhaust system. It's a "cat back" system that exits behind each rear wheel. Took myself 2.5 hours to install, spare stays where it's at, and easy to install.
