Hey there boys....I took my truck in for MIL code first is was P0442 leak in evap system....later it changed to P0455 Large leak in evap....plus remeber I had a detonation problem....well the dealer flashed the PCM....the codes are gone and the truck well I havent been able to open it up yet seems slower off the line but the MPG went up about 2 MPG on regular unleaded.....i used to have to put super in to minimize theeeeeeee knock......what else does this flash do to the engine? I know the cherokees had some type of flash done to them. Should I risk putting the Bernd box back on??? That is when I started having problems?? Anywhere I can go to compare the versions of software that they installed to stock software??? They also changed my pass side control arm upper.....I basically diagnosed everything for them and gave them TSB numbers because they seemed clueless......does moog still make ball joints for a 2001 4x4??

The "Detonation Flash" retards the timing (among other items) which does deteriorate performance. The IAT Adjuster may or may not help out as the timing is retarded up to 4 degrees at certain points. The IAT Adjuster has nothing to do with the EVAP system...those two codes you stated point towards either a cracked, loose, or disconnected hose in the EVAP system.

Bernd don,t get me wrong the box woke the truck up and i know the adjustre has nothing to do with the Evap system.....maybe it was a different flash thats the reason for the question.....where can i compare software versions?.....have you talked with Gary Bethern lately???

No biggie.

I checked the TSB's for any type of PCM reflash and there's four of them for the '00 models (including the detonation fix flash).

Flash "Fixes":
Transmission Governor Pressure "Flash" (Sensor volts too high)
Ignition/PCM Interference "Flash" (Recall)
Catalytic Converter Faults (Undetected) "Flash"
Engine Spark Knock "Flash"

As for the actual software revisions, that's pretty much a DC "Secret". Even the senior techs don't know too much on what they do.
