ok every time my truck has gone to the dealer for a problem I tell them to adjust the transmission so it will shift properly....I guess their idea of properly and mine are completely different...but anyways....it doesn't shift right and they can't seem to get it right so I'm just going to have to adjust it myself...but would anyone be able to tell me where this "adjustment screw or bolt" that they keep talking about is....they keep telling me that it is way out of adjustment and that it is a simple fix....but of course they won't tell me how to do it...so I was hoping one of you could? oh and by not shifting properly I mean from first to second and second to third is way out of wack....but from third to o/d seems be just fine...so it's just in and out of second gear....I neglected to mention that my truck is a 97 CC 4x4 with a 5.2

I am having a problem with a "jumpy shift" too. From first to second is where my problem lies mostly and only durring light acceleration and if I floor it the damn thing only kicks down 50% of the time. It is very frustrating at the very least.

Now as for this simple adjustment you say the dealer speaks of is most likely the TV cable (throttle valve), I have not messed with mine but do a search here on the forums for the adjustment or grab a manual for your truck like haynes or a service manual. This cable adjustment is a very touchy thing; one wrong move with it and you can really fry your tranny.

You might think of taking it to a tranny shop to have it done (skip the dealer) just to be on the safe side.

I am thinking the cable from the pedal to the linkage holding the TV cable is where my problem lies. I am currently waiting for funds for the trans-go shift kit, then I will have a shop put it in.

If the TV was out of adjustment it would affect all of the shift points. You may have a problem with either your governor pressure solenoid or the gov. pressure sensor (possible both). Unless you have an independant shop that is very familiar with chrysler products, you are almost always better off with the dealer. Although it sounds like your dealer is lacking the needed "know how". Maybe you should find another dealer. If you stop and think about it, the dealerships only work with the same makes and models all day long and usually know them inside and out and have access to engineering help. It just depends on how far your dealer will go for you, and it does'nt sound like your dealer wants to help too much. Just my 2 pennies.
