This is yet another reason certain people should be tested at birth for an IQ high enough to be allowed to live.

I take my truck in to get it inspected. Keep in mind, it's a Dakota 4x4 with two big, shiny V8 Magnum stickers on both sides of the truck. Anyway the guy hooks the hose into the tail-pipe and then plugs something into the engine-compartment. I wait, and the guy walks back to the computer, does something, then does something with the wire he plugged in from the computer. This repeats two more times. Finally he gets me and tells me I passed inspection, but just BARELY, and that his machine was getting funny readings because my engine was so out of tune, and then offered me a tune-up special. I politly tell him that he needs to have his equipment checked, and that I do all my own work and had just tuned it before I came in.

After that I got home with the pink inspection paper and actually look it over to see why I 'barely' passed. The dumbass was testing a 2.5L 4CYL fuel-injected engine according to the print-out. How frickin' STUPID can you be?! You see four plugs on the right of my engine, how many are on the left? And what about those big honkin' stickers?! Not only that, but do they even MAKE 4CYL engines in 318ci?! I mean it isn't a monstrous engine but it's bigger than any 4CYL I ever saw! Still, it explains his 'funny readings' and why I 'barely' passed. I 'barely' passed the emissions expected from a 4CYL engine with a frickin' 8! Now how out of tune is THAT?!

I swear, I'm getting more and more afraid to let anybody do ANYTHING to my truck. I'm to the point where I feel safer driving without an inspection than with one. I mean what if some nimrod forces a wire to plug into something it shouldn't? What if he hits a button on his computer that fries soemthing under my hood? You can't find decent help ANYWHERE in this day and time. However, I am going to hang on to that emissions test simply because I've got an 8CYL that can pass a 4CYL emissions test, proven!

I dunno' if this guy was the manager or not, but he was the one telling the others what to do. That's one of the reasons I just let it go. It isn't worth my time to write Jiffy-Lube HQ and get the closest shop shut-down because of incompetence.
