Looks like your tranny is goin bro. Don't drive too far from home. Not uncommon at your mileage. Especially if your hard on it. Come over to the delphi RT forums and post. Alot more useful info on R/Ts over there. Heres the link:

Sorry to here that. What fault code is the check engine light generating (you can read it off the odometer with no special equipment if you know how to do that)? I just had my transmission rebuilt on my R/T with only 61K miles. The check engine light came on and when I checked the code, it came up as P1740. In the code list, that is for transmission torque clutch converter / overdrive solenoid. Dodge wanted $3,600 to fix it. I had a Dodge guru do it for $1,500. In my case, there were definite signs of abuse from the previous owner --- a type of damage the guy that did the work had never seen in many years of doing transmission work. Buyer beware.

Brad,
I assume it's an auto, right? Sorry to ear that, and the guys are right. Sounds like you'll have to get it overhauled. I don't know what the warranty coverage is for kilometers, but on my 2000 4.7 Dak, the manual trans went after 60,000 miles. WENT. Not started acting up, just left me stranded. I don't abuse the truck, but I'm just saying. best of Luck to you.

Brad, I had the same prob. (or at least it sounds like it) 2 yrs ago on a trip on the praries. Turns out it was the PCM. The code it was throwing (can't remember the #) was for a solenoid in the trans. Auto Clearing (S'toon) had it for a week (while a drove a POS F150 rental, the absolute worst mileage I have ever experienced!)
After throwing some parts higledy-pigledy at the trans they decided to replace the PCM (all free under emissions warantee)
Pull the code by using the ign. key. From off to on, off/on, off/on and the codes will come up in the odometer window on the dash.
Where are you located?
