Ok guys, I have spent nearly 2 hrs going through old muffler
posts but i have yet to find solid answers to my questions, so
here they are.....I have a 02 4.7 and i want to put an exhaust/
muffler system on it. I am not interested in touching any of the
exhaust before the muffler. I am ONLY looking at 2 mufflers, the
flowmaster 40 series or a magnaflow. Like everyone else, I want
the truck to sound sweet as hell on the outside but not
overpower the radio in the cab, gains in hp and mpg would also
be nice. So if you have either a flowmaster or a magnaflow on
your 4.7, then please anwer the following: how loud (compared
to stock) is it inside/outside of truck........I am also considering
on doing a single in/dual out. What are there advant./disadvan.
to this as far as hp, mpg, torque, sound? I would much rather
just do a single/single if there are not signicant differences.
Thanks

I have the Magnaflow 2.5" single in / dual out. Sounds good. Have no idea what the gains were. I think the Part Number is 12458 or 12158(aluminized -- but u can get the SS variety). I had a local shop in W. PA put the muffler in, use one of the stock tailpipes, and add a pipe beside the stock one for about $110 -- all aluminized. If you wanted something that would outlast your truck, go with stainless, but expect to pay 2.5 to 3.0 times more. With mine, I wasn't sure if I was gonna like it, or take it off, so I went with aluminized.

Good rumble w/ a sort of hollow echo at idle and slight throttle and cruising. Crack the throttle WFO and this thing sounds like it's running just straight headers. I Likey. :o) Hope this helps.

Did the local shop used an H crossover (something similar), but
those cost approx $70 themselves so perhaps not? If you dont
mind me asking, where in WPa is the shop? I am in central pa
and have fam in philly area. Thanks

Wouldn't it be more worth the money to just get a full cat-back? I was looking at flowmaster mufflers and they were costing around $110, when a complete cat-back was around $175. Just a suggestion is all. Let me know how that Magnaflow sounds. I want to do a complete cat-back sometime this summer and I'm up in the air on what to get. Either Flowmaster, Magnaflow, or Dynomax. Thanks

Otto is yours a true dual flowmaster or duals from the muffler
back? either way, what part #? Jeremy, i dont know if i
wasnt looking in the correct place or not. Where did you see a
flowmaster catback - i couldnt find one for a 4.7. A part number
or a web address would be awesome.

Celisup ... no ... there is no H-Pipe. This set-up is a cat back (single in - dual out). The H-Pipe would only be applicable to a true dual. The shop is Olzak's Garage in East Brady, PA (out in the middle of nowhere about 60 miles north of Pittsburgh). It's just two guys doing custom work. They do fantastic work at great prices though. He even threw in a State Inspection for that price without even asking me; just noticed the sticker was about to expire and did it. Gotta love that. Lemme know if you need anything else.

i think that anyhwere in pa, except for philly and pitt are in the
middle of nowhere. jes, did they use the stock muffler hangers
or weld on new ones for the additional exhaust pipe? I was
wondering if the stock hanging points on the truck would be
strong enough and big enough to hold both exhaust pipes.
thanks

Used one stock, then fabbed the rest of the hangers. It's been on over a year now with no probs. And no interference with my spare tire or Class IV hitch.
