Please help,

My 94 Dak 5.2, 4wd, 5spd just staarted stalling and not starting. I drove 200 miles with no problem. When I stopped to get gas, the Dak would not start again. I had to wait 1/2 hour and then it started. All weekend it did this, it would start but once you shut it off, I had to wait about 1/2 hour to start it each time after only driving about 3 miles. (I was moving from an apt to a house about 3 miles apart) I drove back 200 miles on the freeway and no problems until I got off the freeway. On my way to the gas station, the vehilce stalled, I coated into the gas station, got gas and had to wait 1/2 hour for it to start again. It acts like it wants to start but just will not catch, almost like there is no gas getting to the injectors, but once running seems to do fine but again wants to stall when slowing down. Any clues or ideas? I'm thinking crank position sensor.

My '92 did that once. It persisted only for a few hours, then the fuel-pump went ahead and died completly. What an expensive PITA! Next time it stalls, have somebody try cranking it and check the fuel-rail for pressure/fuel. That'll rule out the pump/filter.

It could be the crank position sensor. Next time it won't start, unplug and replug the CPS and try to start it again. May times when the CPS is going bad, reseating the connector temporarily solves the problem.

My '93 dakota (5.2) had a fuel line leak that made my truck stall. The leak was so small that it only showed up as a small damp spot on the frame (never a drip). I Replaced my fuel lines and have had no problem since.
