i believe magnums started in the gen 2 Dakotas (92?? - 96) so pretty much all Dakotas on the road today are magnum....
the 3.9L (the LA based engines in general) have proven themselves to be reliable, and have a vast aftermarket as well..
Anyways I had a 98 RC 3.9L auto, and it was a good little truck. it just didnt have the power i wanted, even with all the mods i had done. Now that I have an 00 cc, auto, 4x4, 4.7L, its a whole new truck!! Get the 4.7!! Its a strong motor and gets near v6 gas mileage. The 4.7 is a pretty torquey motor, ESP for only being 287 CI!!!
thats just my .02
Dan MOPAR=More Power!!
