Subject: 4.7 bolt ons???
IP: Logged

Message:
I am about to buy a new intake for my dak. I have an 01 with a 4.7. I have heard good things about the FIPK but the price is a lil steep. I was planning on ordering from KRC for 259. A local shop tried to sell me one for 357.

I have saw a few things about an IAT adjuster. What exactly is that and where are they sold?

What is a good throttle body to go with?

I am new to the 4.7. Thanks, Anthony

I hear the F and B throttle body is the one.
Before you buy a cold air check out the fennco no hub plumbing fixture as a snorkle and a K and N drop in filter.

I personally prefer the Fastman TB (www.thefastman.com), the craftsmanship is awesome, the price is right, and Dan is a good guy. He'll give you a discount if you mention the special pricing from the boards. I'll let you know how the KRC 212 cams are as soon as I get to run with them.

'FERNCO' fittings, can be found at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.

There easier to clamp to a TB, than the rigid PVC's.

'If you have a piece of sewer pipe on your TB for an intake, you MIGHT be a redneck!'-Jeff Foxworthy, actually, I said it, but got the 'redneck' thing from his act.

I went ahead and ordered a Z-tube from intense performance today. Next up will be the throttle body. I think im gonna go with a 70mm from thefastman.com. Hopefully, that will hold me over until i can afford cams. Any cheap mods that I can do?

Cheap mods?

HOw about free ones?

Take off the belt driven clutch/fan assembly, don't worry, the pulley is pressed on, no not needed on it, it WON'T come off! And no, only in extreme cases do you need it, like idling in traffic, without your electric fan going.

this frees up about 5hp accross the board, and helps it respond quicker.

Do a search about it, it's been a topic many times, use a big wrench and give it a whack with a mallet/hammer.

Aight...gonna search that and see what I find. Seems that my clutch is goin out now though. I was stopped at a redlight and it wouldnt shift. I finally got it into 2nd and got rolling. It shifts fine now but it the clutch doesnt seem to be engaging right. It jerks when i let the clutch out.

I got my intense performance z-tube today. Im gonna wait til i get the clutch fixed to put it on. I ordered it wednesday night and got it today. Thats good service and it looks awesome. Thanks, Anthony

When putting on a homebrew cold air intake, be careful. There is alot of talk about abs from local plumber. ABS keeps heat in. I went to local performance shop and bought pre made pieces of aluminum, silicon connecters and added my own K&n filter. Cost of filter was as much as rest of hardware.

I bought the IAT adjuster from speedtweaks about a year ago for my 2001 4.7l auto. I pretty much left it on in the 2o'clock position all the time.
Since then I have had to replace all four of my o2 sensors and cat. The rich fuel mix fouled it all up. A mod for $30 wound up costing me $300 to fix. Other safe mods that I have bolted on myself are: Airaid Intake, Jet chip(I), Poweraid TB spacer(gives cool air sucking sound from throttle), Roadmaster Active Suspension, Full Hotchkis kit, Adjusted TPS voltage, removed clutch fan and 18" wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires.

Far and away my best improvement (AND CHEAPEST TOO) came from a 360 Air Intakz Kool Shot. I've done cams, fastman, gears etc. but the Kool Shot showed me the most in the butt dyno.

I am a little late to this one, but I would have let come by and check out my Z-tube. You'll be happy with it. I know that I am. You really need to pick up the cams and intake next though.
Later,
Michael

Z-Tube, R/T Rims, SSB Rear Disc Conversion, Alpine Head-Unit, Infinity Kappa Speakers, SilverStar Headlights, HO Cams & Intake installed.

Got H.O. ?

I like the z-tube a lot. I put it in last tuesday. The sound is awesome. It seems to have a little more power in the upper rpms and better throttle response. As far as low end torque, it may have lost some. I will probably do the intake and cams next.
