I am not 100% sure, but I do believe the SLT and Sport packages are appearance options only, therefore motor performance is not affected what so ever. I also believe the SLT is more upscale, and chrome....in general. But I could be wrong.

With the Plus, you get the:

Body color wheel flares
Front floor mats
AM/FM stereo CD player and CD changer controls
Rear stabilizer bar
16"X8" cast aluminum wheels
You get all that with the Sport Plus too. I'm reading over the brochure, and it seems the only difference, performance or appearance-wise, between the Sport and the SLT are the chrome bumpers offered on the SLT. Personally, I like the body color bumpers on the Sport better.

I just bought a sport plus. That is the trim package chrome or body color. My Sport has a chrome grille, the part attached to the hood only the rest is classic sport package. I don't like the two tone SLT's, especially when they use the grey bumpers.
Patriot blue sport plus. not a single stinking badge. We don't got to show you no stinking badges.

Two tone SLTs do not have gray bumpers.

You can get any feature you want on either style, SLT or Sport. It is mainly a matter of trim look on the exterior.
I saw a two tone with the gey at the dealership, it was patriot blue with silver two tone and the grey bumper, obviously because of the silver they decided grey, actually the bumper is chrome and the plastic front is grey. But we all know what I'm talking about.
I just get the feeling that the SLT looks more 'family' and the sport looks more 'race' when you get a dark color. Although my neighbor has an 02 SLT 4dr. 4x4 and it is white with a low camper shell that makes it look almost like a durango, the damn thing is the nicest SLT I have seen.
