R/T's are great. You get the HD cooling, 5.9L, HD tranny, stiffer/lowered supspension, larger sway bar up front, a sway bar out back, cool looking 17" wheels, 9.25"LSD standard, 3.92 gears, and an Aluminum drive shaft for just a little more than a V8 SLT.

I assumed they all came with an Aluminum shafts. My 1998R/T and my 2000R/T had them. I wouldn't put it past Dodge to have eliminated it from the package in the last year of production. Yet, they charged more for the vehicle.

It's real easy to spot. Just look at the yoke where it attaches to the differential. It's not painted. The main tube is coated with a rubber coating so it looks black. The yokes on both ends are bright aluminum.

I know from my dirt track racing that the Aluminum shaft is supposed to accelerate out of the corners faster. It would also help the Dakota off the line quicker at the 1/4 mile.

Wow even HD cooling!! That includes a tranny cooler, and an oil cooler right? I believe that’s the 46re tranny too. What size is the fuel tank? If it’s bigger than my tank, (15 gal i think) then i should be able to go a similar distance on a full tank (faster though lol). It’s going to take me a while to find one that suits me (loaded cc, pristine condition, plenum pan issue addressed, pref under 60k on the clock documented) as you can see, I’m waiting for the perfect truck. But with my personality, I’ll drive the first one in my price range and fall head over heels for it!!

Sorry to write a book lol, thank you for your patience

They all come with 22gal tanks. I don't know about an oil cooler. The HD cooling I was refering to was the extra cooler for the transmission. It still has the internal cooler that resides inside the radiator, but it also has an external cooler that mounts right in front of the radiator. The fluid goes through the external cooler before going into the internal cooler. This helps keep the engine from overheating as well as the transmission.
