I had a NEON once. I drove the piss out of it.
Everyone I see on the road that is YOUNG drives the piss out of them. The PT Cruiser is the same frigging thing. But DC charges MORE for it.
And a LOT less young people drive the PT's and therefore I see less people driving the piss out of those on a daily basis compared to NEONs!

So I have to agree with Whip on this one. That magazine most likely collects data from various sources while probably never getting behind the wheel of both a PT and a NEON and every other vehicle they "test"!
You will never get 100% correct data from them.

They actually do buy the cars and drive them for a few months & several thousand miles. But, that's still not very long when you think about it. The reader surveys are the ones they seem to lean on for ratings of manufacturers, whether it's cars, toasters, or televisions. You can force statistics to say whatever you want. Their methods of gathering data are flawed. I'm not saying Consumer Reports is useless. It is good for lining the bottom of bird cages.

I just looked at a NEON SRT-4 today. Man, that thing rocks! I test drove a blue 2004 SRT-4 5spd while I was at the dealer buying my $150.00 left front hub assmebly. They were twisting my arm really hard to buy the SRT-4. They call the new blue F5 or something. I had my Intense Blue R/T parked next to it and they were the exact same color. That car would look great parked next to my R/T. I've got to check how much my insurance will be.

I can't believe anyone thinks CR is credible. I read it only to get a laugh when I need one. When I look at their results, I am usually wary of their opinions. Because some of products I have bought over the years is absolute junk according to them. I guess I am supposed to believe that I got lucky and got one of few good ones they made.

Well, to each his own. I think the lack of apropriate responses to my posts says it all here. Every time I provided a "reasonable" answer. All I got was violent thrashing instead of replys directed at my posts.
The same thing keeped coming up "the PT and neon are the same car but their drivers are different". Never anything in direct reply to my statement. When I addressed the PT vs Neon claims again just thrashing around with no soild replies.
I'm still wondering how wiplash could state:
"All they get is straight numbers showing the number of break downs, what broke down, age/miles of break down, and the cost of the repairs. Never mind the fact that most Neon owners are under the age of 25 and drive more agressively than the the average 45-up PT cruiser owner."
Then when JES replies
Wip -- so it says this in CR? Are you sure?

"Look at the people that drive Lexus and Toyotas. 99% of them have perfect driving records. Now look at your average Dodge owner. Most of them have at least one speeding ticket. Some have lost their license to drive at least once."

wip says:
"JES,
YES THEY SAID THIS IN C/R!!"

Seems to me if they said that in CR, then they are doing more than just punching numbers.

As I said before " You can make what you want from these companies studies."

I would say it seems a little odd that JD Power and CR are comming up with basically the same results. I'm sure the fact that even the auto manufacturers ship pre-production vehicles to CR to get their opinion on what should be improved will be disputed as a good idea. Read this.

I mean read this REALLY. Don't just reply to me without doing so. I guess that makes the big three US manufacturers stoops as well. Have a nice day!

I'm just glad that someone is looking out for me and making sure that my storage trays aren't too shallow and that I have enough cupholders. That's the important stuff, right?

"Arnone agrees that most of the suggestions — including adjusting the height of the driver and passenger interior door handles to make them easier to reach and making a shallow storage tray deeper to be more useful — were adopted."
