Couldnt be sure if it was a Cobra or just GT. Was merging onto I-95 in South Philly last night on a left handed merging lane. Road was clear and dry, no cops in sight, and as I hit the merging lane I decided to floor it just for the hell of it. I mean, why the heck did I spend all that extra cash for a V8 anyway if Im not gonna have a little fun with it within reason anyway? After all, isn't the merging lane one of those places where it's actually SAFER to be a lead foot?

So of course Im doing 90 by the time I hit the left lane. One minute Im on the merging lane side by side with this little black car I saw out of the corner of my eye cruising in the lane I need to get into, and next thing I know I'm pulling away rapidly at about 20mph faster than he was going. I slow back down to about 75 for a second, then all of a sudden, I the car behind me change lanes in my rear view mirror and start approaching FAST.

Next thing I know a black late model Mustang comes flying by on my right doing well over 100. I guess he saw me gun it suddenly on the on ramp to blow by him and thought I was tryin to challenge him, which wasn't the case at all. I hadn't even really known he was there.

So of course this Stang is about a quarter mile ahead now and I know I should have left it at that... but I couldn't resist getting the last word in. So I floored it again, kicked it up to about 105, caught him off guard when he musta thought he left me in the dust, and blew by him again within about 20 seconds. This time Im flyin by on the left, he's passing a slower car in the middle lane on the far right, probably has no clue Im there again.

Finally I was satisfied so I moved to the middle lane and slowed down to about 70 again. Best part... the Stang comes flyin up on my left now, pauses, and the guy gives me a thumbs up and a big grin before taking off again. I know he probably coulda waxed me without working his car too hard if he'd really felt like it, but I also think he was really surprised that a crew cab truck was actually able to hang with him as much as it did.

Gotta love my V8

Great story, I wish people were that friendly around here. Most of the time if I even so much as pass someone they cut me off and give me the finger or start to tailgate. Well that doesn't happen all the time but it's agood majority.

Around here, kids with Mustangs always try to show off, acting like they have a real muscle car (which is laughable). They try to peel out constantly, change lanes suddenly w/out signaling, cut people off, etc. Of course, I'm in a college town, so maybe they're just full of teenage angst or angry because they have small...engines. The new thing is plastering "4.6" all over the car, like that is something to be proud of. Lmao! Kids!

Having both a QC w/ 5.9L and a Cobra, sometimes its hard not to kick some rice burner butt though. They soon realize that there is nothing better than 8 cylinders not 4 mice under the hood.

Call it what you will. Its not even like Im trying to make out like I squashed a V8 mustang so I dont know where youre gettin BS from. We played around a little bit on an empty stretch of road and I held my own a little better than he probably thought I would, that's all.
