Subject: Surging when stopped

I have noticed that recently my truck will surge 200 or so RPM after I stop at a light or stop for any other reason. I will come to a complete stop, sit there for maybe a second, and then I will notice that the RPM's will go from 600 to 800. It goes back and forth until are take off. Any ideas?

try cleaning your idle air controller with carb spray.

don't pull or turn the plunger.

I have a 94 318 automatic. After I installed a Mopar Performance PCM I noticed a slightly erratic idle (cams out and surges) and what feels to be a dead spot in the throttle at very low, steady RPM's. When it acts up really bad it sets a check engine light.

Expecting a vacuum leak from under my intake I went ahead and installed an M1.

THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE!!!!

Once up to operating temperature, I can stop at a light and the idle will dip all the way to 400 then surge back up to 1800 then gradually back down again. It never stalls but it gets damn close. If I disconnect my battery and reset the computer it runs and idles great until the PCM starts to create its own settings again.

I have a clean IAC and TB and I have swept the TPS with a volt meter. The IAC works because when it starts to idle low you can hear the IAC start whistling as it opens to try to compensate for the low idle. I have covered the IAC hole and set base idle to 800 but it doesn't change to problem.

I have a hot ignition system (MSD6A, MSD coil, spiral core wires and brass cap and rotor), headers, 2 1/2" true duals, 2200 stall, PowerDemon transmission, M1 intake and 3.90 gears. The truck will destroy 275/60/15's through 1st and into 2nd gear off idle and runs great above 1/8th throttle.

PLEASE HELP!!!

The only thing that I can think of is that maybe the Mopar Performance PCM is bad. I would try putting the stock back in and see if it still acts up. If your truck operates normal with the stock PCM, then I would contact Mopar Performance and tell them that you got a bad PCM. I have heard of people getting bad PCM's before. I hope this helps.
