Subject: Wanted: Dyno-4.7 stock vs HO cams
IP: Logged

Message:
Does anyone have a dyno of the stock 4.7 cams versus the HO cams? I'm looking for a direct comparison between the two, same dyno, no other mods at all between cam change/dyno.
I want to see what they do to the powerband as well as HP TQ increase from the cams themselves.
TIA,
Jason

Wow. No response to your question yet?

I'd be curious too. I've read what the HP and Torque was but never seen a graph. Not by someone here anyway.

Yeah, no response. Probably won't be either. I'd even settle for a stock HO dyno as that would give some kind of an idea. Probably not many people around who run a baseline, change cams, and then go to dyno w/o any other mods.

Type in "4.7 dyno results" in search to bring up some old posts. An extra 15hp is the average gain with HO cams.

I dyno'd mine when it only had a Flowmaster on it here in Austin TX - I don't remember the actual number, but the corrected number was like 215-220 rwhp - I was really surprised. Just under 300ftlb.s. Since then I've added intake, headers, and about two weeks ago added the HO cams. I would say biggest difference was after installing the cams - definitely a mod you can actually feel. I'm sure it's at the minimum 15hp increase.

I'm going to a Maxwell Dodge here in Austin here pretty soon, and get another dyno sheet for it. I'm not sure if I believe the original as the numbers my truck generated were higher than anyone else's for a stock pick'm up truck - pretty cool though.

If I do it here soon I'll have one of the members post it for me, since I don't know how. Actually I'll call about it today.

Lates,

I'd really like to see the dyno chart if you still have an image anywhere. I'm more interested in seeing the curve and what the cams do for shifting the powerband.

IdahoRT, do you know of any place to get a dyno done in the
boise area? i've got the HO cams in my 01 auto and would look
at getting a dyno done if it wasn't too much $$$.

I have used the dyno in Meridian before. I guess there are two place in Meridian that have a dyno, one a Mustang Dyno, the other a DynoJet. I've only used the DynoJet. $85 for a few pulls.
Idaho Speed Center will have a Dynapack dyno sometime this spring.
