I just came across this posting. I have a 2002 jeep overland with the 4.7L HO. i have just got the truck back after 4 months in the dealerships shop. It went in for engine failure after only 80,000 km (around 50000 miles i think). The failure was caused by a broken valve spring. When it broke, the valve fell into the head and bent when the piston hit it. The piston also had a hole punched in it by the valve. New long block was ordered, and I was on the hook for an $8000.00 repair bill. (and 4 months without my truck, due to issues with intakes, but thats another story)
Did any one else notice a broken valve spring as well?
