ive heard two or three times saying how chevey guys are gay they talk about private parts and all this sh*t and what are you talking about wacking off your stupid grow up. all you people on here are just rude. you cant even talk about trucks on here or compare and contrast. all you guys do is make dumb jokes and make as$es of your self. all i wanted to do is have a nice friendly conversation. i know i raced a 93 dakota with a 5.2 with 3 91 short bed single cab and it did alot better then your guys all mighty hemi which i think is a joke of a motor they brought back the hemi so they would sell more buttom line its really not that special. i think the 5.2 is the best motor dodge has had for the last 20 years. you guys should really stop being as$ whipes

i have ran my truck at the track a couple of times first heres the stuff i have on my truck true dual flowmasters, hypertec programer 3, k&n a tornado, headers it also is a single cab with a 4 11 rear end. my best time with it is 12.7 when i first got it stock it ran 13.9

even if i'm a chevy guy its kinda hard to believe you went from 290hp 410tq stock to 350&480 with exhaust an a few bolt-on's.BTW INTENSEdak39 i don't have a f-body(it would be nice though)i've got a high 11 low 12 64'chevyII(really i'm not some BS'in chevy guy)some guys give chevy's a bad name.

well i am not sure what 454 he was talking about, but if it was one of the older 454SS the those werent but 250 hp and 400 tq... my neighbor has one... and they are a high 14 second truck at best.

Well, I did see an article in Popular Hot Rodding back in the 90's that dynoed a 454ss at 350hp. It wasn't stock. They added an ACCEL MPI system to the engine. The intake looked like the late 320HP Z28. It was programmable with a lap top. It was very trick. The ACCEL MPI and headers where the only mods done to the engine. The truck went from running high 15's to high 13's. I wish I still had that article. Pop-Hotrod did the build up because too many 454ss trucks were being beat by the 350ss truck.

i almost feel sorry for the 454,the TBI engines were saddled with the worst factory tune ever,7.9comp.195cc port heads(small for BB)low-rise 2bbl.intake,and 2bbl.TBI with restictive manifolds&exhaust.i'm suprised it would even run.

man, my 76 smog big block 400 has higher compression than that (8.2:1)... but i have a camshaft that will make up for it on the low end.

well my times probley make me sound full of sh*t but i left out that i was runing air plane fuel but i wasnt when i blew the doors off the hemi air plane fuel is very high octane it makes alot of differnce

Ok, listen up then; glad to see your 454cid has 350hp, I have that @ my wheels after 15-20% drivetrain loss (auto tranny) - and I'm pushing 400 fpt... @ the wheels. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. So anyway what was it like pulling the motor out of your truck for the dyno, cause theres no way u got 350 @ the wheels in that slug. Dyno my ass. You right about those times IntenseDak, this guy must've been @ the 1/8'th mile track and didn't know it - And "airplane" fuel/? is low octane high oil content - pretty much like clean diesel fuel. Whatever.

IntenseDak39, I'm your huckleberry - no really, just kidding - what are u turnin in the 1/4 though? I'm runnin an 8.02 in the 1/8th and about a 12.5 in the 1/4. But I still don't have any good traction tires or a stall converter - and my new tranny is shifting @ 5 grand instead of 5700 like it's supposed to. All that should get me another .5 or so. But enough excuses. I'm ready when u guys are! Sorry about the long post.

Hate to bust your bubble there Jeff. But, if you run the Aviation fuel in a low compression engine like the 454 you will make less HP. Octane rating is a measure of the fuels volatility. In other words, the harder the fuel is to ignite (less volatile) the higher the octane rating. 110 oct is much less volatile (harder to ignite) than 87 octane. If your engine has less than 9:1 compression you would make more HP with the 87oct than the 110oct. If your engine has over 10:1 compression then the 110 would work better especially if you have cast iron heads. Most truck engines have somewhere between 8:1 and 9.2:1. The aluminum head engines usually have the 9.2:1 and the cast iron head engines usually have less than 9:1.

Make sure you put in plenty of aviation fuel the day you run me. You'll need that and an after burner.

Don't take it personal man, I think we're all just f*ck1ng around here. I know I am @ least. It's just all these high perf trucks get me all excited. I have no I'll feelings toward anyone. As for the pre-mag, I dunno? Your prolly right. But the underlying assumption seemed to be that my motor was stock. That was just my colorful way of pointing out that it is not. How do u know so much about it anyway BOWTIE? Just kidding.

Higher octane fuel definately has an effect on my engine though. It's 10.2:1 static cr with iron 340 J heads. It does right @ 315hp with pump gas, but it'l hit almost 350hp with the 112 octane. If your engine is high comp and wants it like mine does, than it makes a huge difference.

Am I missing something on this aviation fuel thing/?, because I thought standard aviation kerosene/fuel was lower octane than gasoline. Maybe your talking about a different type of aviation fuel. Anyone got any info on this, because I'm currently paying $5/gal for 112 octane (leaded) fuel and I wouldn't mind finding a cheaper equivalent/alternative. Heres what I found on the chevron site.
