Mine runs great with the Bosch 4418 + 4`s. Some people say you shouldn`t run em because they will destroy your coils(platinum). I read somewhere that the HO coils are the same part # and they come stock with platinum plugs.

I had a little carbon build-up problem on #7 and replaced the +4`s with stock champions. Same thing happened with them and the idle quality suffered. So I put back the +4`s and and it idles noticeably better. I have been running Fuel Power and the carbon build up is gone, plug looks normal.

03 qc 4.7 auto 4x4 25k (about 18k on +4`s)

I'll back up jeremiah2360 on the Bosch 4418's. I've only had them on about 2000 miles on my 4.7, but they idle quality is terrific. I used Bosch Platinum on my previous '92 5.2 for nearly 200,000 miles and loved 'em. Every 40-50,000 mile plug change, the plugs looked great. I put 3923's in my daughter's DOHC Neon, and they fouled on the first sub-zero weather startup! (Yes, it was the recommended replacement plug.)

Lots of people have used the Bosch Platinum plugs with success. I will never use Bosch Platinums again. THEY SUCK!! When you first put them in they are great. On average your gas mileage will go up 2mpg. Idle quality will improve as well as the throttle response. All that goes away after about 5000 miles. After 10,000 miles the truck will run like sh!t and your performance and gas mileage will be worse than it was before you installed the Bosch. I've put them in just about everything I owned and I've had the same results. I gave up on them 4 years ago. I'm back to Autolite 3923's. They are the only plugs that stay consistant mile after mile. Everytime I had plug failure on the Platinums it was for the same reason. The tiny platinum electrode fell out of the ceramic tip on the plug. I don't know about you but I don't like the idea of having pieces of platinum bouncing off the top of my pistons. I'll stick to plugs that stay together. Same goes for the Accel Acu-Grooves.....Electrode failure! They fail sooner than the Bosch. Never tried the AC Platinums. I hear they stay together better than the Bosch, but they don't perform any better than the 3923's and they cost 3 times more than the 3923's.

R/T Blues from other post, you seem to have problems where others don't... I know your just stating your experiance, but I've got around 10 to 15,000 miles on my plugs with no problems... Fires right up with the first or second turn of the engine every time and still gets pretty good fuel milleage as well... I'm only stating my own experiances like you R/T Blues so I mean no offense toward you, and am sorry if you take this that way... BUT, I have never had any problems out of the Bosch plugs...

Check out NGK's. I have a better idle with them than I did when I had the 3923's. Especially when i'm running with the A/C off.

regular Bosch Plats = good in Magnum motor.
Autolite 3923s = not good in stock Magnum motor.

Greg,
I agree with you man. I have a lot of problems with a lot of sh!t that no one else has problems with. By the same token, there are a lot of things I don't have problems with that everybody else does. For example: Ball Joints. I've had 4 gen3 dakotas and I have never had ball joint problems. I know every one else is.

CThomp,
I agree with you on the NGK's. They performed better than the 3923's and they lasted twice as long as the Bosch. I highly recomend the NGK's. I run the 3923's because the gap stays where you set it and and the electrode on these plugs seam to be the least prone to round off. It is very important that the surfaces of the tip and the electrode have sharp edges (file). This promotes a stronger arc.

I learned about NGK's when I was into VW's. These engines are very hard on plugs due to the heat/detonation. The NGK was the only performance plug I ran that could take the heat.

I've never liked or guess I ever will like NGK's... Guess I have the same aspect on them as you do with Bosch's :)) I never have and doubt I will have ball joint problems as well... Now that I said that I'll go out and first thing I'll see is the front of the truck sitting on the ground ; )) 1st and last NGK's I used was in a engine that mighta ran off of them for 2 whole days if that much... Biggest waste of money ever... AND yes they were the right one's for it ; )) Well anyway...

I still bought several Bosh Plugs. For the reason I stated earlier. They offer the best short term performance gains of any plug. They just don't last. Now that I drive my cars more than I tinker on them I use more reliable spark plugs. The Autolites just last longer. The NGK's offer a good comprimise between the performance gains of the Bosh and the longevity of the Autolites. It was a reputable race engine builder in Little Rock, AR. that directed me torwards the NGK's. He had the same problem with Bosh. He doesn't put Bosh in anything he builds.

I run NGK 2262's on my 4.7 and love them. I swapped them out at about 3000 miles. I have almost 30K on the motor now and the plugs still look great.
