my buddy has an r/t and his girl is buying him a torque converter for his birthday so i am trying to do a little research and help her out, i drive a 95 lightning so i dont know too much about r/t's, however i do like them, anyways i did a search and came up with some good info but i was wondering what a good stall speed for his truck would be, right now he only has exhaust and intake, so would he only want to go to the 2400 stall or would he be alright with a 2600-2800, i know with my truck i can run a 3000 on a basically stock motor and still stay good in the powerband, but like i said i am not sure with the r/t, he is eventually going to be getting a supercharger and running around 8psi, so i would like that to be known, any help would be greatly appreciated, also what would a good valve body (shift kit) be
thanks

Well, I would stick with a 2400 stall from APS http://www.apsprecision.com/

They will custom build the torque converter to fit his R/T's mods and future mods. Give them a call. I have their 2400 Bracket Fighter converter in my R/T and it took of 4 tenths and the 2.5 torque multiplication will burn a hole in your pants! They cost about $420.

I had a 3000 stall in a 350 S-10 with a 700R4 tranny and it was too much for my setup as I ran out of motor at about 5500 RPM. It was fun since it put the motor in the power band instantly though. I switched to a 2400 stall and was a lot happier with the way it matched the engine/tranny/gear combination and it made it more streetable.

Best thing to do when selecting a stall converter is call the MFG and tell them what your running and they can make the best recommendation for the application. I learned the hard way buying the 3000 stall and then going back and using their suggestion the 2400 stall. I ran Hughes converters and didn't have a problem with them.

With the 3000 stall forget about towing anything, even the 2400 stall is pushing it when towing.
