Subject: best mod for the money?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2001 R/T dakota CC and I am looking to put a few mods on. I have had this truck for 2 years now, but really haven't had the cash for the pricey engine mods. I have an air intake, flowmaster exaust and 180 t-stat, but that's about it for engine mods. All my mods have been on the exterior. Now I want to start on the engine and I'm not sure where to start. I don't want to load my engine up with mods, but I do want a few that can increase my HP between 20-80 hp or so. I want to be right around 320hp or so. Just something to give it that extra push. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jason

Well when I had my 99 Dakota R/T this is the route that I took.

Air Intake (intense performance)
Mopar Performance computer (2001 needs reflash)
Mopar Performance Headers
Mopar Performance wires
Dumped Dynomax exhaust (Recommend the Spintech system ocer the flowmaster for sound and performance)
180 DEGREE T-stat

Recommended items I never got to:

Fastman 50 mm TB or go with the billet F and B throttle body
Another excellent add-on is the M-1 intake manifold from Mopar performance
Spark Plugs-Autolite 3923's

These mods all work great together, I would definitly reflash the computer to adjust the timing and shifting and go with the Throttle Body and M-1 to compliment the mods you already have. KRC performance is a great source for parts, and are reasonably priced. Any futher questions I would call Marty at KRC!

Later,

SVTJES

I used a Hypertech for my '01 5.9. Made a huge difference on the Butt-O-Meter. I like the reprogrammer because it is easily reversable if I get crappy gas, or want to tow a heavy load.
