It will fit in any dakota, you may just have to change a lot, and spend quite a bit of money. You will probably have to buy a tranny depending on which one you have. I dont know everything about the swap, but i definately know more than the first reply you got.

The cost depends somewhat on what year truck you're talking about. From '96 on it's more complicated and costly. A 5.9 will even fit a gen1dak.
