my '93 did the same thing...my problem was correded wires under the relay box on the left wheel well, it's a 3 wire to 1 wire harness that was so badly corroded that it was just powder..I reconnected and she fired right up...good luck.

Check your Crankshaft Position Sensor (located behind the exhaust manifold on the passenger side). Check the Fuel Sync Signal located in the distributor.
The Auto Shutdown Relay (ASD) supplies battery voltage to the fuel pump, fuel injector, ignition coil, alternator field winding and oxygen sensor (O2) heating element. The ground circuit for the coil in the ASD relay is controlled by the engine controller. The engine controller operated the relay by switching the ground circuit on and off.
The engine controller monitors the distributor pickup signal to determine engine speed and compute injector synchronization. If the does not receive a distributor signal when ignition switch is in the run position it will de-energize (remove ground). Battery voltage will will not be supplied to the fuel pump fuel injectors, ignition coil, alternator field winding and O2 sensor heating element. The ASD is located in the Power Distributor Center on the driver side of the vehicle next to the window washer fluid container. (This is not the best place for the PDC) On the Gen III trucks it has been relocated. Check all the fuses in the PDC, if the fuse for the Auto Shutdown relay is bad, you never will get your truck started. Check all fuses under the dash by the steering wheel. I hope this helps. At the least get a Haynes or Chilton Repair M anual for your year truck. It has wiring diagrams in it that can be a valuable source of information. If you don't feel comfortable doing these things, get a friend who is somewhat knowledgeable about mechanics and electronics. As a last resort, ask around about a good shop to troubleshoot your vehicle. That may be the best money spent when your truck is dead. Hope all this information is helpful.
