I'm in the market for a new pickup, getting rid of a 93 Ford Ranger due to lots of mechanical problems arising. A local dealer has a 97 Club Cab Dodge Dakota, 2-wheel drive, 5.2 V-8 with power windows, locks, etc., emaculate condition, wanting $9450, and will take $2000 for trade. My check of blue book puts it right on target. Can anyone provide me with info on what I might expect for gas mileage.

I have a 99 club cab with the same 5.2L V8 and I get around 14-15 mpg. I do alot a city driving (stop and go) but even on road trips I don't get much better. Maybe around 16-17 mpg at best.

I have a '97 5.2, with 141K miles. I get about 15-16. My mileage (and punch) improved signifantly when I did an injector service and added a K&N Air Filter.

I bought a 97 CC 5.2 auto 2wd (3.55 gears) with 60,000 miles about a year and a half ago. I paid $9,995. Started out getting about 17 mpg. Since then I have added Mopar headers, Hi-flow cat and muffler, replaced O2 sensors, Accel coil & 8mm wires, 3923 plugs, K&N filter, removed clutch fan (replaced with electric), 16x8 wheels and 245-75-16 tires, 3.92 gears and toneau cover. I now get.... 16 mpg.
